Hello

Following feedback from the 2021 Bucks Referees Society Survey and additional discussions / support at the AGM in July, Bucks Referee Society is pleased to announce we have worked with a personal trainer (PT) to develop a pre season fitness programme. The fitness sessions will be tailored specifically for referees and will be held each week at Amersham & Chiltern RFC from WC 9th August until the end of September, with no cost to Bucks Referee Society members.

Details
We are planning to start the fitness sessions from next week 10th August
We have the option of Tuesday or Thursday evenings (TBC)

Meet at Amersham & Chiltern RFC at 7.15pm for 7.30pm start
There will be a changing room available to use
Sessions will be 45 mins duration plus 15 mins warm up/ cool down

Sessions will be held on astro and grass pitches depending on the content of the session, so trainers and boots required

There will be food available from 8.45pm, in line with A&C club training, so you don't go hungry!

Next steps

Please confirm to me via e mail by 12 noon Friday 6th August
- If you want to attend the training sessions (We need to manage numbers with PT)

- What do you want to get out of the sessions

- Which evening would you preferer, Tuesday or Thursday? (We will use the most popular evening based on feedback)

I'm looking forward to getting your responses by 12 noon Friday 12th August...and actually seeing you at A&C for training!

Malcolm Jamieson

Malcolm Jamieson, one of our longest-serving members, recently passed away after a long fight with hip cancer. Malcolm was a dedicated rugby man and was known throughout rugby as one of life's real gentlemen. Malcolm, following his on field refereeing days, was for a long time our grading and exchange secretary and he will be missed by many in the rugby family. Malcolm was also much involved in the development of referees at the South West group level, observing and giving advice to referees aspiring to climb the greasy pole.

There will be a private funeral as his wife Janet says that there are far too many in these Covid days to accommodate. Instead, Janet will arrange a function to celebrate his life when the lockdowns permit.

The Rennie Grove Hospice charity looked after Malcolm in his last few months, and Janet has asked for any donations to be made to this charity using the following link: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/malcolmjamieson
